Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC, Canada

 

This is just a small sample of the dozens of pictures I took at The Butchart Gardens.  These are the best formal gardens I have ever seen.  Every inch is beautifully maintained.  We were there at the transition into fall.  There were freshly planted chrysanthemums, mature roses and the first hint of autumn colors in the trees.  This place is magnificent.  There are fountains, sculptures, views of the bay and more.  There is also a full-sized functioning carousel!  I especially enjoyed the large moving fountain installed in a flooded quarry.  The garden is open very day.  You could visit every day and see something new.

There is a large gift shop, a tea room, ice cream shop and cafe.  We went just after breakfast and we were not quite ready for lunch.  

This is a British Columbia must see!
