Wild Pear in Salem, OR
Beautifully preserved tin ceiling
I led with the tin ceiling. There are many historic buildings in downtown Salem. Wild Pear is in one. It has one of the most impressive original tin ceilings I've seen. They did an excellent job of modernizing it by running the electric lines and fire suppression pipes around the perimeter inside of through the ceiling. The air conditioning came through ducts under the seats. This place is very pretty with a stop-in-your-tracks dessert case.
We were there for lunch. I had a great chicken sandwich with grapes with sweet potato fries to share. My friend had a huge cauliflower steak, which I forgot to photograph. The menu is large and interesting. It was hard to decide. I would definitely come back. It is in the heart of downtown, just a few blocks from the Capitol. We easily found street parking with a 12-hour meter.
