Dora Ristorante on the campus of UCSD
Pizza oven looks "extra"
Attractive abstract art
My steak
Dora is a thoughtful addition to the UCSD campus. Despite being in La Jolla, the campus is quite isolated. Dora is a nice place for students looking for a special meal or to entertain visiting family. It is on Revelle and across from the La Jolla Playhouse. It specifically offers a pre-theatre menu and has cocktails inspired by plays at the theater.

I had an excellent cocktail made with Cynar, always on the shelf, but seldom used and beautiful ice. I had a nicely prepared steak with sautéed greens and potatoes. My friend had the catch-of-the-day, sea bass, with potatoes. I think the sea bass should have come with something more interesting than potatoes. I did really enjoy my steak.
The menu is nice with focus on Sicilian cuisine. Parking is available in an underground lot next to the restaurant. Parking is free for patrons. There is a QR code in the restaurant that allows you to register your license plate. The decor is pretty and the pizza oven was "bedazzled" with mosaic tile.
We really enjoyed walking around UCSD after dinner. It was the summer and the campus was quiet. The new dorms have been completed and they look great. The campus has a lot of interesting outdoor art. We wandered from Revelle down to Muir to visit the "Sun God" statue. (Some people really hate it! I have learned to appreciate it.)
