A visit to the Oregon Capital
On our way back from Crater Lake, we stopped at Oregon's capital, Salem. The Capitol is a very pretty building constructed with white marble. Atop the dome is "Pioneer Man" - a 22' gilt man looking stalwart. The dome from the interior is impressive. There are also several murals with scenes from Oregon's early history. It is a fine Capitol building! The downtown is bustling with lots of restaurants. We had lunch at the Wild Pear.
