Farmer's Bottega in Mission HIlls, San Diego

Farmer's Bottega is an excellent unpretentious restaurant serving excellent food with a neighborhood feel. We started with the grilled artichokes.  These were served on bread and were delicious.  I had a glass of house sangria.  For main courses, I had the short rib with polenta.  The meat was butter soft and went well with the polenta.  It was a decadent and satisfying dish and quite filling.  My friend had the cauliflower "steak".  It is nice to see a vegan dish prepared as carefully as a meat dish.  For dessert, we split a classic tiramisu.  Wonderful!

The main leans toward rustic Italian.  They serve Roman pinsa - a flatbread with pizza-type toppings.  There are several vegetarian options.  It is a very nice menu with many choices.

We easily found parking on the street nearby.  It was a very relaxing and enjoyable night out.  The restaurant was busy, so reservations are a good idea.
