Long Shadow Restaurant at the Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel, Jacumba, CA

We first came for dinner, then had to come back for breakfast and then went out of our way to be there for lunch.  Long Shadow is the restaurant at the Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel.  I had guacamole, harissa carrots, the vegetable tagine, corn pancakes and pork carnitas over our three meals.  They were excellent!  My friend liked the vegetable tagine so much he had it for dinner and lunch, along with avocado toast.  The food is really, really good!

The restaurant is very pretty.  There is a very large outdoor patio under some pine trees, an enclosed, bright dining room and a very old school dark bar with nice paintings of naked ladies.  The drinks were also great!  They serve a non-alcoholic hibiscus punch that is perfect for a dry, desert evening.  I had a fresca-rita with mezcal.  Great!

The town of Jacumba is about a 10-minute drive along Old Highway 80, off of I-8.  This place is worth the small detour.
