Extraordinary Desserts in Little Italy, San Diego

I couldn't get a picture of the front display case with the fabulous desserts because there were too many people in the way!  Extraordinary Desserts has a wonderful selection of tasty and very, very beautiful cakes, cookies and other treats.  You can buy whole cakes or have a slice in their cafe.  The cafe is large and very bright and nicely decorated, with a selection of drinks, including wine.

I had a dirty matcha affogato for dessert after my lunch at Kuma Cafe.  The ice cold matcha ice cream stood up well against the hot espresso.  The classic dessert uses vanilla gelato, but the matcha added an interesting earthy, grassy note that paired well with the bitter, bitter espresso. 

I also took home a hazelnut shortbread, which I forgot to photograph. It was amazingly buttery.

There are two locations.  This one is in Little Italy; the other is close to Balboa Park.
