"Lightscape 2025" at the San Diego Botanic Garden, Encinitas
The San Diego Botanic Garden has an annual winter light display that is spectacular! Although we have been to the Garden many times, this was our first "Lightscape". It was magical. Each section of the garden has a unique vibe - from whimsical to elegant to almost eerie. Almost all of the 37 acres are bedazzled. We spent well over an hour walking the well marked trail and stopping to enjoy a Prosecco. The trail is about a mile and most of it is paved. There are several places to stop for snacks, hot chocolate, wine and more for sale and sections to take a break and relax on a bench. The music was also nice ranging from celebrations of light, such as Rhiannon's "Shine Bright" and Beyonce's "Halo" to traditional carols, like "Silent Night".
It's a fun evening for all ages. There are "no stairs" options along the path, but some sections have slightly uneven terrain. The parking was well organized with several lots open. (A traffic rotary has been added on Quail Gardens Road, right in front of the main parking lot and I think it is confusing as hell!). Tickets are $35 for adults and parking was $15. It is best to buy tickets in advance, because most nights sell-out. We were there at 7:15 PM and it was busy, but not overcrowded.
