Balloon Fiesta, Albuquerque, NM

We went to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque! Hoorah us!  We were there for Day One.  We booked a balloon ride with Rainbow Ryders.  We were told to arrive at 4:45 AM.  The traffic was terrible!!! You really do need to allow an extra hour for traffic and about 15 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the gate.  When we arrived for check-in, we learned that weather conditions would not permit the ascent of any balloons.  It was a lot of fun anyway.  There was a nice drone show, beginning as soon as the gates opened.  Then, the Dawn Patrol balloons lit up.  There was a fly-over by a precision flight team.  The Fiesta began in earnest at 7 AM with the National Anthem.  The balloons couldn't ascend, but they filled up.  It was amazing to walk past hundreds of balloons.  There are lots of food booths set up.  It felt like a Fiesta.

The next day, we went to a restaurant on a hill with a view of the field.  The balloons ascended in groups and it was an amazing sight.

A great two days overall!
