The Rio Grande Nature Center has a really nice nature center with views of the tributaries of the Rio Grande. You can take a short walk to see the Rio Grande. We were there in October, so the river level was low. This is a wonderful area to watch birds. Parking is $5 and the Nature Center is free. This is the website for Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center. The area attracts sandhill cranes, but we didn't see any during our visit. We saw a lot of waterfowl! The cottonwoods were yellow and it was so beautiful.
