Pagosa Springs, Colorado
We had plans to get a day pass at the Hot Springs Resort in Pagosa Springs. It is was raining. Instead, we stopped at Roots for a cup of coffee and walked along the river. This is a fascinating area. It has one of the deepest natural hot springs in the world. The hot springs flows naturally into the river, which is still very cold. The air smells of sulfur. It is an area where a person becomes very aware of the forces of geology. The downtown is undergoing a massive construction make-over. We easily found parking at the river access lot. It is well worth spending some time. The area around the resort reminded me of the Blue Lagoon in Iceland.
