Abiquiu Inn, Abiquiu, New Mexico

The Abiquiu Inn is a great base to explore Northern New Mexico.  The Inn is about a one-hour drive north of Santa Fe, near the border with Colorado.  The Inn is next to the Georgia O'Keefe Welcome Center and a short drive from Ghost Ranch.  It is just off I-84, so it is easy to find.

Each room has a private entrance and each room is unique in decor.  We really appreciated the restaurant, which is open 7 AM - 9 PM daily.  Their green salsa is terrific.  We also especially enjoyed the chocolate-pinon tart.  They have a beautiful outdoor patio that was a treat on warm days.  Our first set of rooms were at the back near the horse corral with actual horses.  There is a sculpture garden running throughout the grounds with over 100 sculptures.  There is also an art gallery with work by local artists for sale.  The gift shop is also nice with a selection of clothes and jewelry.

From the Inn, we visited Taos, Chimayo, Santa Fe, Plaza Blanca, Ghost Ranch, the Georgia O'Keefe home and enjoyed the natural beauty of fall in New Mexico.  There are things we didn't have time for - the Puye Cliff Dwellings, Abiquiui Lake and Ojo Caliente Hot Springs will have to be for another time.

This is just a lovely place to stay!
