Kindred in San Diego
The sound track and vibe of Kindred is alt/metal, but it is a vegetarian restaurant - a bit unexpected. We went for brunch and had a great meal. I started with a cocktail called "Serpentine". It was herbal and excellent The bartenders are really good. I watched two of them at work and they were diligent about measuring. Making a good cocktail is just like cooking - measuring ingredients gives a better and more uniform result. It was heart-warming!
For a main course, I had the Warlock Bowl - a grain bowl with fresh herbs, roasted sweet potato, roasted Brussels sprouts and lots more. The bowl came with a few lychee fruits. This was an interesting sweet and fresh note in the bowl. Very good. My friend had the house Caesar and an order of the Charred Remains - roasted broccoli over herbed ricotta.
The brunch menu leans towards breakfast items. We were there for lunch and found our options a bit limited. However, the food, drinks and vibe were great. The music was outstanding! The restaurant is located in South Park. We found on-street parking two blocks away.
