The Matterhorn Restaurant, San Francisco
A bowl of melted cheese isn't the most photogenic of foods, but it is like a relaxing bath for the belly. So good and so soothing. The Matterhorn Restaurant offers a cheese forward menu featuring traditional fondue. We had Savoyarde - a rich Comte cheese fondue, rich with wine. It came with ample bread and pickled vegetables. It was a wonderful luxurious experience.
The restaurant is very busy. We saw many large tables filled with groups of friends and co-workers. The decor is very cute and there is a miniature alpine train running outside the back window. A table in a gondola is another fun option. There are some non-cheese items and plenty of wine and beer selections. We were too full for dessert, but the selection looked terrific.
