Gold Finch restaurant in Torrey Pines

I went for a morning walk on the beach at Torrey Pines.  There is some construction work at the north part.  It was a nice walk anyway.  I was hungry, so I decided to try Gold Finch, near the Torrey Pines Golf Course.  The restaurant has a pretty patio and an interesting menu.  I had green shakshuka.  The base was a sauce with tomatillos and potatoes.  The dish had a lot of cilantro and dill, which worked well together, to my surprise.  The tomatillos and potatoes were in big pieces, which gave it a hearty texture.  The dish was accompanied by crisp slices of za'atar bread.  It was a surprising dish and very tasty.  I had a good lychee black tea and finished with a lemon-lavender shortbread cookie.  It was a great lunch!

The restaurant is in an office building.  There is some construction on the street, so it is easy to miss the entrance to the parking garage.  There is plenty of parking.  The elevator for the restaurant is at the entrance to the garage.

The menu has several classics of Jewish cooking, such as latkes and matzo ball soup.  The bakery has treats like babka and ruglech.  It is something to look forward to!

It was a beautiful day and it was a treat to sit outside and have a relaxing lunch.
