Callie, East Village, San Diego
Wow! I absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was outstanding. The portions were generous. My drink was excellent. The space is open, modern and beautiful. There is parking in the underground garage and it was free!

Callie is a modern Mediterranean restaurant located near Petco Park. We arrived after a Padres game started and left before it ended, so we had no difficulties with traffic. The restaurant has parking underground in the building with the entrance on 11th between Island and J. It was well marked.
We started with drinks and baba ghanoush with a puffy, hot pita. Great! I want to try the avocado labneh next time. My friend had the Aleppo chicken which was an ample half-chicken with a touch of honey. I had the harissa lamb chops on a delicious bed of tzatziki. Delicious! We also shared an amazing dish of Egyptian crunchy carrots. The cashew dukkah made a great crunch and the spicy dressing balanced the sweet carrots. This is a must try!
Loved it! We had chicken left-overs the next day. To my deep regret, I didn't have room for dessert.
