Wolfie’s Carousel Bar in Little Italy, San Diego

The decor is a tribute to carousel maker, Charles Looff.  Wolfie’s Carousel Bar is a delight with leaping carousel horses and a revolving bar.

There is an excellent brunch menu.  We had mimosas to start.  Then, I had the duck confit with brûlée French toast.  The rest of our group had the French omelette, French toast and the ham Benedict.  It felt celebratory and the food was great.  My meal was a nice balance of the crisp, rich, savory duck leg and a wedge of French toast, like a mini dessert.  If you have a hearty appetite, the portions may be a bit small.  It was good for us, but certainly nothing left over.

This is a bright sunny place with open windows and the deconstructed carousel is such a delight.  This is a wonderful special occasion place!  They are also open for dinner.  Although the address is on Kettner, you actually need to walk up W. Kalmia, just past the Architectural Salvage Co.
