Cesarina in Point Loma, San Diego

I loved this place!  Cesarina has great food, an interesting menu and a warm, neighborhood feel.  I enjoyed watching ravioli being made.  I have tried to make my own pasta and I learned a lot observing a master at work.

We started with drinks.  My friends had delicious mocktails.  I had the DIY Negroni.  You have a choice of base, vermouth and bitter.  I chose gin, cinzano and Nardini bitters.  It was nice!  Many restaurants have started charging for bread.  We received a nice selection of breads for free.  While I ate bread, my friends had lentil soup and a vegan caprese salad.  There are lots of vegan options.  The vegan cheese in the caprese was very good.

For main courses, we had rigatoni arrabiata, vegan bucatini with mushrooms and vegan bucatini with a puttanesca sauce.  All were very good.  My pasta puttanesca was so full of flavor with loads of green olives and capers.  In addition to vegan sauces, there are even some gluten-free pastas.

For dessert, my friend had vegan tiramisu.  I had flaky millefoglie pastry with cream and berries.  Excellent!  It was a wonderful meal.
