Bloom Bash 2022 at the San Diego Museum of Art

Bloom Bash is the San Diego Museum of Art’s annual fundraising party.  It opens Arts Alive, which is an exhibit of flower arrangements inspired by works from the collection.  The party was fun!  There were many food vendors with tiny bites to put together to make a meal.  I particularly enjoyed a salad bite from Panama 66 with mulberries.  There was also an interesting apple mac’n’cheese served in an ice cream cone.  There were many dessert options, especially chocolates.

After eating, we went into the Museum.  The arrangements were displayed in front of the piece that was the inspiration.  Many of the florists included very sculptural elements, so they were very different from ordinary arrangements.  The funniest was a inspired by a tiny sculpture of a sleeping dog.  The florist created a tiny home for the dog, to scale.  The op art room was also open with a moving light display.

Beautiful colors and reflection of the shape of the cloisonné vase
                                                The room of op art
This is the tiny dog’s yard.  The inspiration is upper left in the case
I thought this was a challenging work to chose as inspiration
Great job interpreting the curves of the blue-and-white jar

There was much to take in.  Outside there were performers, Ferris wheel and a lighted dance floor.  The music was great.  It was a fun evening and a perfect night to be outside.
