Red Cliffs Lodge in Moab, UT

This is the most beautiful lodge I have ever stayed in!  The Colorado River was right outside our door and the surrounding cliffs are amazing!  It was the perfect base to explore the Moab area,  We stayed in a two-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin.  It had a living room/kitchenette, pull-out bed, desk and fireplace.  It was a nice size for four.  The Lodge has a generous breakfast buffet and offers dinner nightly.  One of the nice features is that they can prepare to-go lunches, if ordered the night prior.  We took lunches on the days we went to the National Parks and had picnics.

The Red Cliffs Lodge is the base of adventure activities.  Most of these were closed because we went late in the fall season, but we did enjoy a trail ride.  The horse pasture was just outside our cabin.  The star gazing is also fantastic.  Our cabin had a small deck with lounge chairs.  We bundled up and watched the night sky.

Inside the Lodge is a small museum devoted to the films shot in the Moab area.  The most famous is "Thelma and Louise".  The type of movies filmed in the area range from John Wayne westerns to spaghetti westerns to low-budget scifi.  The lobby and rooms are decorated with prints by noted Western artist, Don Weller.

The Lodge also has washers and dryers, which were great for our long stay.  The drive from downtown Moab is ten beautiful miles past campgrounds, bike trails and bouldering sites.  About 10 minutes past the Lodge is the entrance to Fisher Towers, which is a spectacular rock formation.

This is a great place to stay!
