Brunch at Searsucker, Del Mar (set to close 10/30/2019)

The portions were mighty, the space open and bright and the service was friendly and attentive.  Searsucker checked all the boxes for an excellent brunch.  The restaurant is spacious, pretty and very California coastal in decor.  There is an attractive covered patio in the back.  They offer their regular lunch menu and also several brunch specials.  I focused on the brunch menu, so as not to get overwhelmed.  I wanted everything!

I had the mint julep French toast.  This was delicious with a wonderful caramel sauce in place of syrup.  I could only eat about half.  The portion was so large, I didn't need lunch or dinner, later in the day.  My friend had an omelette that was enormous and flavorful with avocado and salsa.

This is a must go-back place.  We were there Sunday at 10 AM.  It was easy to find parking.  It is located in a large mall complex.  I wish that they started brunch earlier, like about 9 AM, because I usually eat much earlier.

There was a cute little koi pond on the patio

This was an epic omelette!
