Mountain Standard in Vail

Vail is a very cute, European styled town with lots of fancy stores and fine, pricey restaurants.  We were there during off season, so many restaurants were closed or running specials.  We wandered around the town and visited the Betty Ford Alpine Garden.  Hungry, we picked Mountain Standard , solely because it was cute and by the river.  The food did not disappoint.  They have an oyster bar, but we chose a biscuit, chicken, the house salad and a Nashville-style spicy chicken sandwich.  The food was great.  The menu seemed Southern inspired with items like shrimp and grits; biscuits with ham and pepper jelly; and the fried chicken sandwich.  The food was pleasantly spicy.  It's an affordable lunch and hearty, too.
