Herb & Wood, Little Italy neighborhood, San Diego

Herb & Wood didn't invent Sunday brunch, but they have perfected it.  The menu is imaginative with savory items, such as scallop ceviche, salmon pastrami and eggs benedict with jamon iberico.  There are several sweet dishes, such as monkey bread.  We observed lots of the Dutch Baby pancakes with three toppings flying by as the waitstaff brought a plate to almost every table, except ours.  (Next time!)  There are also cocktails, mocktails, champagne and more.

Our food was stellar.  I wanted everything on the menu.  The space is open, bright and nicely decorated.  It is in the part of Little Italy with a reasonable amount of parking, so that was a breeze.  There are plenty of stores nearby and most were opening by the time we finished brunch.  The restaurant is also within an easy walk to the marina.  The main entrance is on West Ivy, but you can also enter through Herb & Eatery on Kettner.
