Roaring Camp Railroads near Santa Cruz, CA

For the Fourth of July, we went to Roaring Camp in Felton.  We took a train ride through the redwood forests along an old logging line.  It was a perfect day.  The trees were beautiful!  The ride is excellent for train enthusiast.  It has the highest grade in the U.S.  It was 75 minutes long with a short stop, part way through, to get out and enjoy the redwoods.

There are fun things to do before and after the trip.  They have an old-fashioned printing press, a duck pond, hiking trails, panning for gold, a general store, candle making and more.  There is a restaurant on-site, Georgie's.  We brought our own picnic lunches and enjoyed them on some shady benches.   There is a small museum about the train and area.

There is ample parking and nice restrooms.  There is a line that goes into Santa Cruz, as well.
