Beach hopping south of San Francisco
We drove about an hour south to Bean Hollow State Beach. This is a very beautiful beach with strange rock formations. There isn't much in terms of facilities - just portable toilets.
We headed back toward the City from there. We stopped at Pescadero Beach, which has a large rock in the ocean full of sea birds - pelicans, gulls and cormorants. There are really nice tide pools to explore.
We set out our beach towels at the beach Half Moon State Park. This wide beach has lifeguards. The water was icy cold and it was very windy.
San Francisco doesn't have the best climate for beach-going, even in late June. It was definitely beach hiking weather, rather than swimming. Still had fun!
