Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center between Seward and Girdwood, AK

The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center lets you see native Alaskan wildlife up close.  We saw bears, moose, porcupine, caribou, musk oxen and more.  It is a small zoo and you can drive up to most of the exhibits.  Most of the animals are rescues that can't return to the wild.  The Center is involved in breeding and re-introduction the wood bison.

I was most interested in the musk oxen.  I have never seen these animals in the wild or in a zoo.

It was about a 90-minute drive from Seward.  The road is flat and scenic. The Seward Highway continues on into Anchorage.
