The Kitchen @ MCASD, La Jolla

The Kitchen @ MCASD is worth a visit, even if you aren't going to the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.  The menu is really fun with a range of coffees, teas, turmeric lattes, hot chocolate and house-made sparking drinks.  The food offerings are also creative with dishes like sumac chicken flatbread (sumac is a tangy Turkish spice); fall squash; a lamb burger and more.  They are open for breakfast, before the Museum opens!

I had a yuzu soda and a chicken skewer with toum.  Toum is a Lebanese garlic sauce.  Sometimes, toum can be too intense, but this was perfect.  The skewer was atop a bed of couscous and the accompanying slices of pickled onion and oranges gave great acidic notes.

I sat outside and watched La Jolla bustle by.

The MCASD is a San Diego gem.  The remodeled museum takes full advantage of its spectacular view of the ocean.  The permanent collection is nice!  I like that they are increasing their collection of Southern California artists, especially the Light and Space movement.  It makes the experience unique.
