Festival of Books, San Diego

We went to The San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books yesterday.  It was fun!  There were booths representing independent bookstores with plenty of books to buy.  I was intrigued by the offerings of Catapult Books in North Park.  I plan to visit soon.  The Festival stage had live music between author discussions.  There were about a dozen venues with author panel discussions inside the campus buildings.  I attended one with Brett Crozier and Shelby Stanger.  The discussions focused on their most recent books, their decisions to write a book, plans for the future, etc.  It was interesting and the moderator was good.  Brett Crozier's book, "Surf When You Can" is leadership lessons learned from a stellar career in the Navy.    Shelby Stanger's book, "Will to Wild" is about the lessons of adventure.  Both seemed really interesting.  There were also booths representing individual authors, writers groups and a section devoted to children's books.

The event was held at USD.  It was a perfect place!  The campus green was spacious and the lecture halls were a quiet environment for panel discussions.  There were plenty of food trucks!  There was also ample parking.  A fine day!
