El Mirasol at Los Arboles, Palm Springs, CA

El Mirasol at Los Arboles offers traditional norteno-style cooking in a wonderful verdant and shaded patio.  It is a very pretty setting and friendly for social distancing.  The food tastes very much like home cooking with staples like enchiladas, burritos, tamales and margaritas, of course.  I always judge whether a Mexican restaurant is authentic by whether they have pozole, menudo and moles on the menu.  They do!  I also noticed many of the diners seemed to be tourists from Mexico, another good sign.  I had the pork chile verde, which was excellent and also a Paloma de mezcal.  The drink was also very good and mezcal is my new favorite thing.

The sculpture in the first photograph is a reproduction of the work of one of Mexico's greatest artists, Francisco Zuniga.  It is a lovely piece.

El Mirasol is a great place for a meal or an afternoon cocktail.  They have another location.  We visited the one behind the Los Arboles hotel twice.  The hotel is very attractive and is one of the many small hotels and resorts in Palm Springs.
