ARLO in the Town & Country Hotel, San Diego

 It was a fabulous meal!  ARLO overlooks the pool in the Town & Country Hotel, which has been renovated with a building being added.  We started with cocktails from an interesting selection.  I had the Silk Road, which had a black tea base with complex spices.  I had the hay-baked hen which sat on a bed of roasted root vegetables, especially sunchokes, which I absolutely loved.  My friends had lamb meatballs and the bass.  Great!

The dessert menu was interesting and eclectic.  I had the dish above, which was bao buns stuffed with goat cheese.  This was great with the goat cheese a creamy compliment to the roasted bananas and berries.  There is a merlot gastrique and the buns were colored with the merlot.  My friend had the kulfi with cookies on the side.  The other of our group had the highly Instagrammable truffle flight, which was liquid versions of truffles served in shot glasses.

This was a memorable evening and I look forward to returning.
