Solvang, California

Solvang is a charming tourist destination close to Santa Barbara.  It was founded in 1911.  The architecture is based on Danish villages with some replicas of buildings in Copenhagen.  There are many interesting businesses, especially wineries.  The Santa Ynez Valley is home to over hundred wineries and many have stores in Solvang.  Most of the tasting rooms were open for bottle sales, but not tastings.  There are Danish bakeries, restaurants, craft stores and more.  When we visited, the museums, theater and cultural attractions were closed, due to COVID-19.  To our great disappointment, Ostrichland was also closed.

The streets were busy with tourists.  It is a large enough area for a half-day excursion and certainly a full day, when the tasting rooms and other activities are available.
