The sunset bat tour was sold-out, so we chose a 1 PM boat ride on Lady Bird Lake. This lake is part of what makes Austin a special city. It is enclosed by a 14-mile walking tour and is also part of a large green space in downtown.
The cruise, through
Capital Cruises, was an hour-long and very relaxing. There was a narration about the Lake and the history of Austin. You can get a good view of some of the most important buildings in Austin. We also went under the Congress Street bridge. We could hear the murmurings of the bats as they discussed their impending migration to Mexico. (That's probably what they were talking about.)
It was a fun trip and a good introduction to the city. It leaves from just below the pool area of the Hyatt.
