Turtle Playground, St. Louis

The setting isn't ideal.  These magnificent creations by Bob Cassilly are crammed into a small park adjacent to the freeway.  It is across a small bridge (Tamm Avenue) from the Zoo, but the sound of traffic is annoying.  However, the turtles are visible from I-64, where they are an unexpected and amusing sight.  A water fountain was leaking, so there were puddles everywhere.  I think the turtles deserve a better spot, but they are still well worth a visit.  There is a small parking lot at the playground at Oakland Avenue.

Yes, the turtles are that big!  That's an adult lady with child

Hope for the future - eggs!
