The Shaved Duck, St. Louis

The Shaved Duck is a very cute, neighborhood bbq spot in the Tower Grove section of St. Louis.  Even the front door is cute:

It has an interesting selection of appetizers such as house-cured bacon, duck confit (there better be duck on the menu!), cornbread and cheese-smothered fries.  We shared the cornbread and it was very down home good.  The menu also has some unexpected offerings such as flatbreads, salads, chilis and gumbos.  We were there for barbecue so we both had a pulled-pork sandwich washed down with sweet tea.  So good.  There is a selection of sauces, including traditional St. Louis bbq sauce and some exotic varieties, such as North Carolina style, which is too heavy on the vinegar for my taste.  It was an excellent and very filling meal.  On street parking is easy and there is outdoor seating.  I'm going back after my next visit to the Missouri Botanical Garden, which is an absolute delight.

So simple, yet so complex!  Good Q with rocking potato salad and slaw
