St. Louis Kolache
What's a kolache? It's a pastry from the region around the modern Czech republic. The dough is more like a bread than a donut or a Danish. There are a wide array of sweet fillings, but it is equally good with a savory topping. It was early, so we tried an apple and a cherry/almond. I prefer these to donuts, because the base isn't so over-the-top with sweetness. I'm looking forward to trying more flavors. If you text to their number, you get a free kolache, so this snack set us back less than $2. St. Louis Kolache has locations across the city. We visited the one in Clayton, conveniently close to the DMV.
