Western Science Center

Dinosaurs are so over-rated.  Especially, when compared to the awesome megafauna that lived in California back in the Holocene.  The Western Science Center is full of mammoths, mastodons, dire wolves, giant sloths, saber tooth cats and more.  The fossils are animals that lived right there in the Diamond Lake area.  Look at these beauties:

The museum is small, but very attractive and very informative.  We especially enjoyed the maps that showed how California changed over time and how much of it was underwater during the era of the dinosaurs.  There was a very helpful docent who answered our many questions.  The museum is in Hemet, near Temecula.  It was a fun stop-over before going into Temecula for lunch and winery hopping.
