Joshua Tree NP

The view from our hotel

We entered Joshua Tree National Park from the south entrance off I-10 (Cottonwood).  The park has a special dramatic beauty with sweeping views and a endless sky.  It is a unique experience for anyone unfamiliar with the desert landscape.  We drove through the park, taking paved side roads to see geologic wonders like the arches.  The Joshua Trees are more numerous to the north.  They are a fascinating adaptation to an arid environment.  We also enjoyed the many cactus species.  We exited on the north side at Twentynine Palms.  It was a magical experience and easily enjoyed by the casual driver, as well as a camper or hiker.  We got to the park early in the morning, as we left, there was a long line of cars at the entrance.  Be advised!
