The special Hula spork |

Hula Pie enjoys one last view of the beach, then... |
Jake’s Del Mar sits on the beach.
You can set your stuff up and keep an eye on
it from Jake’s while you eat.
It is that
close.
Jake’s is one of my favorites in
San Diego.
My Del Mar routine is beach,
wash feet, put sun dress over bathing suit, have lunch at Jake’s, return to
beach.
It’s also one of the best
restaurants to watch a sunset.
I’ve been many times.
At my last visit, my friend had the Creative King Salmon, with brown
rice, pea vines, grilled pineapple compote and herb yogurt. I choose the Chef’s Burger. I’ve never had a bad meal at Jake’s. For dessert, we lost control and decided to
split the Hula Pie. It’s a monstrously
large slab of ice cream pie, with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and macadamia
nuts. It isn’t very refined, but big and
fun and meant for sharing and celebration.
